Obtaining a Sri Lanka Visa
Sri Lanka Visa – All Travelers on Holiday or Business vising Sri Lanka must have Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) for entering in to Sri Lanka. This is a easy process which can be done online and make the payments also online.
It is advised that all travelers before visiting Sri Lanka obtain a 30-day visa by applying for ETA by visiting the official website www.eta.gov.lk and making payment directly using a credit or debit card. Once approved, print out the visa confirmation and you are ready to travel.
If you are traveling on Business and wish to obtain a visa, you will need to visit to one of the Sri Lankan Overseas Missions (embassy) in your country or if you are presently in Sri Lanka the head office of the Department of Immigration & Emigration located at the following address.
Any payments made to other websites or agencies are not valid to process a valid ETA. Therefore, always ensure that the payments made by accessing to Sri Lanka ETA website and avoid making repayment at the port of entry to Sri Lanka.
You can still obtain visas at Sri Lankan embassies abroad and there is a counter at Bandaranaike International Airport (Sri Lanka) for people who arrive without a visa, although you’ll have to wait and pay a small penalty.

The visa fees are as follows:
- Transit visas good for 48 hours are free
- Standard 30-day tourist visas cost US$30
Sri Lanka Visa Extensions
You can renew a 30-day tourist visa twice, for 30 days each time. Contact the Department of Immigration and Emigration.
You will need a passport that is valid for at least six months
