Sri Lanka offers Great opportunities for diving and snorkeling. The only requirements for snorkeling is an ability to swim, fairly good fitness as it a strenuous activity.If you feel like going beyond the beautiful reef dives venture into reef passages and come face to face with many different spices of fish which will take your breath away.

Hikkaduwa is a small town on the south coast of Sri Lanka located in the Southern Province, about 17 km (11 mi) north-west of Galle and 98 km (61 mi) south of Colombo.
Hikkaduwa is recognized as one of the best places for snorkeling and diving in Sri Lanka due to its impressive coral reef which is abundant with tropical fish. If you are a novice and want to lean a few tricks before you start exploring the reef, there are many snorkeling and diving schools in the area. Also you can dive and explore of the ship wrecks in the areas as well.

Kalpitiya is located in Puttalam district, North Western province of Sri Lanka. It is known for its serene beauty. It consists of 14 islands. It has a total area of 16.73 km2. The people of Kalpitiya are mostly fishermen. It is now developing as an attractive tourist destination.
Kalpitiya is a ideal location for snorkeling a diving due to its close proximity to Sri Lanka’s largest coral reef the bar reef. This reef is home to many beautify spices of fish, sting rays, sharks and turtles. Dives sites are accessible by board which could be hired with no difficulty.
Best time to visit –  Late November to Early May
Kirinda is a coastal village in Sri Lanka. It is located in the Southern Province. It is located 273 Km from Colombo and would take 4 hours and 30 minutes by road.
Kirinda bosts of a beautiful beach and  the Great and Little Basses reefs offer some of the best snorkeling experiences that Sri Lanka can offer. In addition to the interesting formations of the sandstone rocks which surround the Great and Little Basses. 1961,  Sir Arthur C. Clarke discovered thousands of silver rupees (Silver Indian Surat Rupees) from the 24 gun ship. This ship belonged to the Moghul Emperor Aurangzeb (1658-1707, son of the the great Shah Jehan who built the Taj Mahal in Agra, India)

Weligama is a fishing town on the south coast of Sri Lanka, Located in the Matara district, southern province, Sri Lanka. It is approximately 144 Km south of Colombo and is situated at a elevation of 30ft above seal level.
 Weligama is a wonderful location for diving and snorkeling where you could swim with dolphins and other interesting spices

Trincomalee  located on the east coast of the island overlooking the Trincomalee Harbour, 113 miles south of Jaffna and 69 miles north of Batticaloa,  The city is built on a peninsula of the same name, which divides its inner and outer harbours.  Trincomalee city is home to the famous Koneswaram temple alluded to in its historic Tamil name Thirukonamalaiand is home to other historical monuments such as the Bhadrakali Amman Temple, Trincomalee, the Trincomalee Hindu Cultural Hall and, opened in 1897.
 Trincomalee is known for its beaches such as ‘Uppuveli’ and ‘Nilaveli’ which are covered with white sand. The waters of these beaches are crystal clear and is a divers and snorkelers paradise.
